I love my parents, and I know they care a lot about me. I try to do really good in school to make them happy and proud, but they are not proud of my passions and dreams. I’m a passionate singer and actress and i also like the paranormal. My parents allow me to be in choir(im a high soprano) and try out for musicals and plays. I’ve gotton solos and main parts but no matter what they see past it. And my father always makes of fun of my interest in the paranormal.

My parents are so happy with my sister who is in softball my dad even became a coach on the team. But i’m not a sports person. My mom even told me once that singing/acting isn’t worth it. I love my passions and people and teachers say that i can go far with my talents, but it means less if my family isnt proud of me. How can i make them see im jsut as accomplished as my sister? Can i get them to support me? Or should i just face it that my folks won’t appreciate my passions?
thank you all for your answers! alot of you mentioned singing/acting as a career. it’s not my goal in life i plan to become a teacher but singing and acting are my hobbies and make me happy.
in additional for the paranormal: thanks for your opinions and i understand that it’s a VERY touchy subject i don’t talk about it to my parents or anyone really. but i do read a lot of books and my family will make comments. you all are very helpful. thank you
